Statement submitted by the Secretary-General in accordance
commissions of the Economic and Social Council
1.    By operative paragraph 1 of the draft resolution contained in document E/CN.4/1985/L.62  the Commission would recommend the Economic and Social  Council to authorize  meeting of an open-ended working group for & period of one week prior to the fortieth session of the Commission on Human Rights to complete the work on a draft convention against torture and other cruel,  inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
2.    The relevant conference servicing requirements in 1984 under section 29B (Conference Services, Geneva)are estimated or a full-cost. basis at S57,?00
