Statement submitted by the International Alliance of Women - Equal Rights. Equal Responsibilities, the International Council of Women (non-governmental organizations in category I consultative status with the Economic and Social Council); the World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations, the International Federation of University Women, the All India Women's Conference, the International Federation of Women in Legal Careers, the International Federation of Business and Professional Women (non-governmental organizations in category II consultative status)
Addendum
The Secretary-General has received the following statement which is circulated in
accordance with paragraphs 29 and 30 of Economic and Social Council
resolution 1296 (XLIV).

1. Suggested addition to article 21 of the draft Convention on the Elimination of
Discrimination against Women:
"4. Non-governmental organizations concerned with the status of women shall have the right to submit to the Commission on the Status of Women information and recommendations relating to the observance of the provisions of the present Convention. The Commission on the Status of Women shall consider these communications together with the comments, if any, of the States Parties directly involved."
