1. Page 8, paragraph 17
Replace the lust two sentences by_ the following text
The Statistical Office of the Department of International Economic and Social Affairs, in co-operation with the Centre, is compiling disability statistics from published reports of national censuses and surveys into an international disability data base. The Statistical Office is preparing a report for the mid-Decade monitoring of the implementation of the World Programme of Action concerning Disabled Persons to be presented at the 1987 meeting of experts to evaluate progress at the mid-point of the Decade (see para. 48 below). In addition to the work on the international data base, two technical documents were reviewed by the Expert Group on disability statistics, which met at Vienna in April 1984, the first of which entitled Development of Statistics of Disabled Persons; Case studies (Series Y, No. 2), has been published. The second document, entitled "Use of household surveys to collect statistics of disabled persons" (ESA/STAT/AC.18/3) is being finalized.

Add the following sentences to the end of the paragraph
The Statistical office promotes and supports technical co-operation in the field of disability statistics in co-operation with the Centre, DTCD, the regional commissions and other interested organizations of the United Nations system. Financial support for technical co-operation in disability statistics has been provided by the Voluntary Fund for the United Nations Decade of Disabled Persons and DTCD. In the last two years, the Statistical Office has provided ad hoc technical advisory services in nine countries.
