Amendments
UNITED KINGDOM
Articles 8, 10, 11 and 15
The United Kingdom withdraws its amendments contained in document A/32/2l8/Add. 1
and proposes the following: ......
Redraft the introductory phrase of each one of these articles as follows:
Each State Party shall take all appropriate measures to eliminate discrimination against women whether married or unmarried.
(Article 8: in the political and public life of the country)
(Article 10: in the field of education)
(Article 11: in the field of economic and social life)
(Article 15: in all matters relating to marriage and family relations)
and in particular shall ensure, on an equal "basis with men".
Article 10 (c)
Replace the paragraph "by the following:
"(c) Education which will help to eliminate any stereotyped concept of masculine and feminine roles, at all levels and in all forms of education;"

Article 10 (f)
Amend to read:
"Measures to eliminate any factors causing a higher school drop-out rate among girls and the provisions of programmes for young girls who have left school too early."
Article 10 (g)
Insert "equal" before "access" and replace "this to include" by "including"
Article 11 (2) (b)
Delete the words "the periods of leave being treated sis equivalent to periods of work actually performed".
Article 11 (l) (c)
Delete the words "the evaluation of quality of". Article 16
Add a new paragraph as follows:
"(3) Nothing in the present Convention shall apply to service in the naval, military or air forces of a State Party."
