Chapter ORGENIZATION OF THE SESSION
Opening and duration of the session
1. The Commission on the States of Women held its twenty-sixth session at the
United Nation Office at Geneva from 13 September to 1 October 1976. The Commission
held Plenary meetings (630th- meetings)
2. The session was opened by the Assistant Secretary-General for Social Development
and Humanitarian Affaires
Attendance
3. The following States members of the Commission were represented Belgium
Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark,
Dominican Republic, Egypt, France, German Democratic Republic, Greece, Guinea, Hungary,
India, Indonesia, Iran, Madagascar, Mexico, Pakistan, Senegal, Sweden, Thailand
Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, United Kingdom of Great Britain, and
Northern Ireland, United States of America and Venezuela. The following States members
of the Commission were not represented China, Ethiopic, Gabon, Nicaragua, Togo and
Zaire. Observers of other States Members of the United Nation representatives of
bodies of the United Nation system, other intergovernmental organization
a liberation movement and non-governmental organization also attended session

Election of officers
4. At its 633rd meeting, on 13 September 1976, the Commission selection the following
officers by acclamation: Chairman, Anasixta Gonzales de Cuadros (Colombia);
Vice-Chairman; Hanns Bokor (Hungary); Janet Co***croft (United Kingdom);
Lena Gueye (Senegal) Rapporteur, Home Rouhi (Iran).
Agenda
5. The Commission Considered its at its 631st meeting. It had before it the
provisional agenda (E/CN.6/590) drawn up by the Secretary-General in Consultation with
the Chairman of the Commission at its Twenty-fifth session. The provisional agenda
was adopted without objection
6. The agenda adopted by the Commission (E/CN.6/590) is reproduced in annex_ to the present report
Summary records, resolutions and recommendations
7. The Commission decided at its 631st meeting, to have summary records of the
discussion of items 3(a) 4 and 7
8. The draft resolution recommended for adopted by the Economic and Social Council
and the decisions taken by the Commission of special relevance to the Council during its
twenty-sixth session are reproduced in chapter _ of the present report.
9. The documents before the Commission at its twenty-sixth session are listed in
annex _
Consolations with non-governmental organizations
10. In accordance with rule 75 of the rules of procedure of the functional commission one
of the Economic and Social Council the observer of the following non-governmental
organization in consultative states with the Council made statements during the
twenty-sixth session
Category I: International Confederation of free Trade Union (item 3),
International Planned Parenthood Federation (item 4), Women's International
Democratic Federation (item 4)
Category II: International Federation of Business and Professional Women (item 4)
International penetration of Women in Legal Careers (item 4), World Women's Christian
Temperance Union (item 4).
