Draft convention on the elimination of discrimination against women
Statement submitted by the International Alliance of Women (a non-governmental organization in category I), the World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations, the All India Women's Conference, the International Federation of Women in Legal Careers, the International Federation of Women Lawyers (non-governmental organizations in category II in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council)
The Secretary-General has received the following statement which is circulated in accordance with paragraphs 29 and 30 of Economic and Social Council resolution 1296 (XLIV):
The above-mentioned non-governmental organizations would like to draw attention to the desirability of making a provision in the Convention for the handling of information from non-governmental sources. Neither Article 21 of the Draft Convention nor the alternative texts of this article contain a provision which would entitle non-governmental organizations active in the field of women's rights to submit reports or other types of information.
