E/CN.4/L.1465 12 March 1979 Original : ENGLISH COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS Thirty-fifth session agenda item 13 QUESTION OF CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD THE COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHT having in mind the draft convention on the rights of the child submitted by Poland on 7 February. 1978, 1/ taking into account the report of the Secretary-General on the views, observations and suggestions on the question of the convention on the rights of the child submitted by Member States, competent specialized agencies, regional intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations (E/CN.4/1324 and ADD.1-4), Taking note of the report of the Working group set up at the thirty-fifth session of the commission to draw up the convention on the rights of the child, 2/ compete work on considering that owing to lack of time it was not possible to the draft convention on the rights of the child, reselling Economic and Social council resolution 1978/18 of 5 MAY 178 and General assembly resolution 33/166 of 20 December 1978 relating to the question of the Convantion on the rights of the child, convinced that it would be desirable to adopt an international convention on the rights of the child in connexion with the international 1. decided to continue at its thirty-sixth session work ON a draft convention on the rights of the child with a view to completing, if possible, The elaboration of the said Convantion at that session for transmission to 'the General Assembly through the Economic and Social council 2. Request the Economic and social chapter of the report of the commission on human rights on its thirty-fifth session. 1/ see resolution 20 (xxxiv) of the commission on human rights; annex. GE.79-11459
