891 (XIII). Petition from Mr. Farah Hassan
Odua (T/PET.11/376)
The Trusteeship Council,
Having examined the petition from Mr. Farah Hassan Odua concerning Somaliland under Italian admin-istration, in consultation with Italy as the Administer-ing Authority concerned (T/PET.11/376, T/OBS.11/ 24, T/L.425),
1. Notes the general observations of the Admin-istering Authority and its representative on the petition from Mr. Mohamed Barre Mohamud (T/PET. 11/ 375), in particular that the Government of Italy has under consideration arrangements for alleviating the lot of Somali ex-soldiers who are physically unfit for employment in the War Cripples, Disabled Servicemen and Veterans Company;
2. Notes the observations of the Administering Authority on the present petition that the petitioner is one of those who, unfortunately, are unfit for employment in the Company;
3. Urges the Administering Authority to introducé as soon as possible the measures that it has in view for assisting all those who are in the same situation as the petitioner;
4. Requests the Administering Authority to keep the Council informed of the progress made concerning the introduction of the measures in question.

Having examined the petition from Sciarif Adan Abdi concerning Somaliland under Italian administra-tion, in consultation with Italy as the Administering Authority concerned (T/PET.11/377, T/OBS. 11/24, T/L.425),
1. Draws the attention of the petitioner:
(a) To the general observations of the Administering Authority and it representative on the petition from Mr. Mohamed Barre Mohamud (T/PET.11/ 375);
(b) To the observation of the Administering Authority on the present petition that the petitioner had been enrolled in the War Cripples, Disabled Servicemen and Veterans Company, hut that he was discharged from the Company at his own request in November 1950;
2. Expresses the hope that the Administering Au
thority will consider the possibility of awarding the
petitioner some benefits when the measures have been
introduced by the Government of Italy for assisting
disabled ex-servicemen.

1. Pr end acte des observations générales présen-tées par 1'Autorité administrante et par son représentant a propos de la petition de M. Mohamed liarre Mohamud (T/PET.11/375). et en particulier de la déclaration selon laquelle le Gouvernement italien envi-sage de prendre des mesures en vue d'améliorer le sort des anciens soldats somalis qui ne sont pas en état d'occuper un poste dans les services de la Compagnie des mutilés de guerre. militaires infirmes et anciens combattants;
2. Pr end acte des observations de 1'Autorité administrante relatives a la présente petition et d'oü il ressort que le pétitionnaire est 1'un de ceux qui, mal-heureusement, ne sont pas en état d'occuper un poste dans les services de la Compagnie;
3. Demande instamment a 1'Autorité administrante de mettre en vigueur, dès que possible, les mesures qu'elle envisage pour assister ceux qui se trouvent dans la menie situation que le pétitionnaire;
4. Invite 1'Autorité administrante a fournir au Conseil des renseignements sur les progrès réalisés dans 1'application des mesures en question.

Ayant examiné la petition du chérif Adan Abdi concernant la Somalië sous administration italienne, en consultation avec 1'Italie, Autorité chargée de 1'ad-ministration du Territoire en question (T/PET.11/
377, T/OBS.11/24, T/L.425),
1. Appclle l''attention du pétitionnaire:
a) Sur les observations générales présentées par 1'Autorité administrante et par son représentant a propos de la petition de M. Mohamed Barre Mohamud n7PET.il/375)
b) Sur les observations de 1'Autorité administrante relatives a la présente petition et d'oü il ressort que le pétitionnaire a été engagé a la Compagnie des mutilés de guerre, des militaires infirmes et des anciens combattants, mais a quitte la Compagnie de son propre gré en novembre 1950;
2. Ex prime l'espoir que 1'Autorité administrante
étudiera la possibilité d'accorder certaines prestations
au pétitionnaire lorsque le Gouvernement de 1'Italie
aura pris des mesures pour venir en aide aux anciens
combattants mutilés.
